Victorian House Renovation in Balham SW12
A kitchen renovation, full internal redecoration, and external front door and brickwork works on a three-storey Victorian terrace in Balham, south London.
Project Overview
Pro House was engaged on a three-storey Victorian terrace in Balham to deliver a focused package of works: a complete kitchen renovation, full internal wall preparation and redecoration across the open-plan ground floor and snug, the restoration of the period front door, and remedial works to the red-brick front elevation. The aim was to update the heart of the home with a confident, modern kitchen while keeping the character of the original Victorian property intact. The finished home was featured in Good Homes Magazine.
Scope of Work
- Strip-out of the existing kitchen, finishes, and obsolete services
- Bespoke deep-teal Shaker-style cabinetry with brass handles, dark stone-effect worktop, and matching island
- Green glazed metro-style tile splashback running the full length of the kitchen wall
- Open timber shelving above the splashback, integrated above-cabinet display lighting
- Brass mixer tap, sink, and integrated appliances installed by our plumbing and electrical teams
- Pendant lighting above the island and recessed downlighting throughout the kitchen and snug
- Full preparation and redecoration of internal walls and ceilings, including making good after services and joinery, in the deep-teal palette running through the kitchen, snug, and adjoining rooms
- Restoration of the original Victorian front door, repaired, redecorated, and re-hung with refreshed ironmongery
- External brickwork repairs and repointing to the front elevation, returning the red-brick facade to a clean, even finish
Results
The new kitchen has become the visual anchor of the ground floor, the depth of the teal cabinetry, the green glazed tiles, and the brass detailing all working together to give the room a confident, modern character that still feels at home inside a Victorian terrace. Carrying the same wall colour through to the snug ties the two spaces together, while the restored front door and tidied brickwork mean the property reads as cared-for from the street.
